At Wrinkle Ranch, we health test our cats, carefully select only the best breeding matches, and raise our kittens with the utmost care. Even with all of these precautions, life can still happen — and sometimes unexpected health issues arise.
That’s why every kitten leaves with a thorough vet check, up-to-date vaccinations, and our written health guarantee. If a congenital or genetic issue ever comes up, we will stand by you and work together on the best solution. Our goal is for every Wrinkle Ranch family to feel supported for the lifetime of their kitten.
What health testing is done?
All of our breeding cats are health tested and cleared before entering our program. This ensures that every Wrinkle Ranch kitten has the best possible start in life. Sadly, not all breeders do thorough testing. By investing in genetic and cardiac health screenings, we reduce the risk of passing on serious diseases and give families peace of mind.
Our health testing includes:
Genetic Testing (UC Davis or Optimal Selection panel):
Screens for over 40+ conditions, including:
Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) predisposition genes
Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD)
Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA)
Coat color and blood type
HCM Heart Screening (Echocardiogram):
Adult breeding cats are scanned by a licensed cardiologist to rule out early signs of HCM, the most common heart disease in Sphynx.
FIV/FeLV Testing:
All cats are screened negative before breeding.
Routine Veterinary Exams:
Breeding cats are regularly checked for overall health, nutrition, and fitness.
What are dbe (dominant blue eyed) and odd eyed sphynx?
DBE Sphynx: Kittens with striking blue eyes due to a rare genetic trait.
Odd-eyed Sphynx: One blue eye and one gold/green eye — especially rare and sought after.
are sphynx hypoallergenic?
No cat is truly hypoallergenic. Many people with allergies tolerate Sphynx better, but it depends on the individual.
Do you ship kittens?
We do not cargo-ship our kittens, as their safety and comfort are our top priority. Families are welcome to pick up in person, or we can help arrange a trusted, hand-delivery flight nanny at the buyer’s expense. This way, your kitten travels safely and stress-free straight into your arms.
